Billing Policy

  1. Unless explicitly mentioned, our practice is not contracted to provide services under any medical scheme.
  2. Our practice can only invoice for the services provided directly by us. Other healthcare professionals, such as the anaesthetist, pathologist, physiotherapist, stoma therapist, dietician, and prosthetist, will bill separately for their services.
  3. Payments for in-room consultations and procedures must be made on the day of service, and patients can later claim reimbursement from their medical scheme. We will provide patients with an invoice and receipt for this purpose.
  4. For consultations and procedures conducted in a hospital or theatre, our practice will submit the claims to medical schemes at our practice rate. However, this rate may differ from the rate covered by the medical scheme. Any difference between the practice rate and the scheme rate must be paid as a co-payment or through gap cover.
  5. After the payment by the medical scheme, the patient will be responsible for any outstanding amount.
  6. Whenever possible, we will provide an estimate of our practice rate for the service prior to its provision. However, this may not be feasible in medical emergencies.
  7. Private patients are required to settle their accounts immediately.
  8. We welcome payment in the form of cash and major credit cards. However, we do not accept cheques.
  9. If an account is sent for collection, the patient will be liable for all attorney fees, own client fees, collection charges, and disbursements. The account and payment are subject to the Prescribed Rate of Interest Act. Patients will remain responsible for any additional interest accrued on unsettled accounts after 60 days. Failure to settle accounts may result in credit inspection and negative listing. The provided address will be considered the patient's domicile.
  10. We currently have payment arrangements with Discovery Health, Bankmed Health and Momentum schemes
